ED summons KTR for questioning in Formula E case today

Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the irregularities in the Formula E race, summoned BRS working president and MLA K.T. Rama Rao to the ED office at Basheerbagh at 11 am on Thursday.

The ED had earlier asked Rama Rao to depose for the recording of his statement on January 7.

According to sources, the ED is investigating possible foreign exchange violations in the case under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (Fema).

Earlier, Rama Rao had denied any wrongdoing, saying, "Where is the corruption in this? We have paid `55 crore to the organisers of Formula E", who acknowledged the payment and it was a "straightforward" transaction.

On January 9, Rama Rao was questioned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for over six and a half hours. After the questioning, Rama Rao said, "ACB officials repeatedly asked four similar questions 40 times. I told them that the money was sent abroad, to which they said the money had reached. I questioned the corruption charges."

Later, he reached the BRS Bhavan, where his supporters gave him an euphoric welcome and carried him into the office, raising slogans of "Jai Telangana" and "CM, CM, CM."
