Former Minister Asif Pasha’s Biography Released

Elected to the then AP Assembly from Vijayawada on a Congress ticket in 1972, Pasha created history as the first Muslim MLA from Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Hyderabad: Former law minister Asif Pasha's biography 'No Regrets' was released on Thursday by government adviser Mohammed Ali Shabbir and former IPS officer S.A. Huda. Asif Pasha who served as minister between 1972 and 1978. breathed his last on December 28. A condolence meeting was held on Thursday evening.

The biography, written by senior journalist and author J.S. Ifthekhar, was released in the presence of the late minister’s family, friends and former associates. Participants recalled Asif Pasha’s services in undivided AP.

Elected to the then AP Assembly from Vijayawada on a Congress ticket in 1972, Pasha created history as the first Muslim MLA from Andhra and Rayalaseema. He served a total of six years amid the imposition of the Emergency. He handled the law, prisons and printing press portfolios, and later served as chairman of the Minority Commission. Pasha was founder-chairman of the AP State Urdu Academy and a trustee of the H.E.H. The Nizam's Trust.
