Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Rega Kanta Rao was arrested in Bengaluru in a sexual harassment case registered against him at Punjagutta police station after a woman accused him of assaulting and blackmailing her after promising to marry her, police said.
The woman alleged that Kanta Rao cheated her on the promise of marriage and called her to a plot on the pretext of opening a YouTube channel for her, where he allegedly assaulted her.
She also accused Rao of blackmailing her with her private photographs. In her complaint, she further alleged that he cheated her of ₹4 lakh in the name of a real estate deal.
Panjagutta police registered a case against Rao based on her complaint. Police, however, are yet to officially announce his arrest.
