Forest Watcher Succumbs to Cardiac Arrest

Forest officials said the department stands with Srinivas’s family and would ensure ex-gratia compensation will be paid to his family comprising his wife and three children.

Mannanur: Even as the All India Tiger Estimation entered its second day on Wednesday in Telangana, tragedy struck in Amrabad Tiger Reserve with a young forest watcher, Dasari Srinivas who went for a transect walk early in the morning, suddenly collapsing after suffering a cardiac arrest.

The incident happened close to Mannanur village and his department colleagues rushed Srinivas, aged 24, first to the nearest primary health care centre in Mannanur village, and then to the government area hospital in nearby Achampet town. Officials said he could not be revived and was declared dead by doctors.

Forest officials said the department stands with Srinivas’s family and would ensure ex-gratia compensation will be paid to his family comprising his wife and three children.

Meanwhile, one volunteer was reported to have broken his leg after slipping on a rock while walking through the forest in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. He was helped out of the forest by department staff and other volunteers and is reported to have returned to home in Hyderabad and resting after treatment.
