Foreign Delegates Visit Agri Horti Expo at Rashtrapati Nilayam

Hyderabad:As part of the Udyan Utsav at Rashtrapati Nilayam, 28 foreign delegates from 18 countries visited the Agri Horti Expo on Thursday under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme of the ministry of external affairs.
The delegates are undergoing training on scientific storage of foodgrains at the National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM). During their visit, they gained insights into India’s agricultural practices while also experiencing the country’s rich cultural heritage showcased as part of Udhyan Utsav, according to a Rashtrapati Nilayam comminique.
Hyd Literary Festival from Jan. 24
Hyderabad:The 15th Hyderabad Literary Festival is set to be organised from January 24 to January 26 in Sattva Knowledge City. Organisers on Thursday said that more than 1.2 lakh visitors attended the literary festival last year and a bigger presence was expected this year. The festival, in its 15th year, will pay special attention to the Kashmiri language.
Jayesh Ranjan, metropolitan area and urban development department (MA&UD) special chief secretary, speaking at a press conference announcing the festival, said: “Important topics like climate, technology and culture will be discussed by hundreds of delegates and speakers.”
“We will host two Nobel laureates, Kailash Satyarthi and Abhijit Banerjee, at this year’s festival. The government is providing `50 lakh as support for the festival,” Ranjan added. The valedictory session will feature West Bengal former Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
The festival will host 15 streams this year, with climate conversations, cultural events, youth programs like ‘Youngistaan Nukkad’, ‘Meet My Book’ events featuring authors, discussions on indigenous and endangered languages and special exhibitions being organised.
Organisers said that the venue is 3 km from the Raidurg Metro Rail station, and shuttle buses will be operated to the venue. The festival is open and free for everyone, and visitors can register on their website.
SEC: Will Release Revised Voter List on Jan 12
Hyderabad:The State Election Commission said it would release a revised voter list on January 12 for the ensuing municipal polls. The commission on Thursday held a meeting with political parties during which the draft voter list was discussed.
The draft voter list for 32 districts, six municipal corporations, 366 wards and 117 municipalities, 2,630 wards will be published on January 12. Objections can be filed at the municipal offices on January 13, The final voter list after considering the objections will be published on January 16.
Karnan checks EVMs in Chudi Bazaar
Hyderabad:GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan and corporation officials inspected the electronic voting machine (EVM) storage godown at Chudi Bazaar on Thursday, reviewing the security and infrastructure arrangements in place. The inspection focused on the implementation of security protocols, round-the-clock surveillance, adequate ventilation and strict compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Special attention was paid to fire safety measures and the availability of uninterrupted power supply with backup systems to ensure the safety and integrity of the EVMs.
