Food Safety Drive in Telangana: 5 Eateries Booked for Using Raw Egg Mayonnaise

131 outlets inspected; 10 kg unsafe mayonnaise destroyed during statewide enforcement drive

Hyderabad: In continuation of the state government’s notification banning the production, storage and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs, the Telangana Food Safety Department carried out a statewide special enforcement drive to ensure compliance.

Officials inspected 131 food establishments across Telangana, out of which five were found violating the prohibition. During the inspections, around 10 kilograms of mayonnaise prepared using eggs or broken eggs was seized and destroyed on the spot.

Authorities have initiated adjudication proceedings against the violators for breaching food safety norms under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The department reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of food safety regulations and urged citizens to report violations through its official channels.
