Five Central Universities Ink MoU to Boost Tribal Research

The pact was drawn up on the suggestion of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and was intended to create opportunities for joint studies on tribal knowledge systems and issues affecting tribal communities.

Hyderabad: Five Central universities signed a memondarum of understand to strengthen tribal research, at the Central University of Odisha in Koraput on Monday.

The institutions include the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad; Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, Vizianagaram; Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, Mulugu; Central University of Odisha; and Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak.

The pact was drawn up on the suggestion of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and was intended to create opportunities for joint studies on tribal knowledge systems and issues affecting tribal communities. Faculty, research scholars and students from the participating institutions are expected to collaborate on projects covering a wide range of tribal groups across the country.

Vice Chancellors Prof N. Nagaraju of Eflu; Prof. Y.L. Srinivas of Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University; Prof. T. Srinivasan (in-charge) of CTUAP, Prof. Narsingha Charan Panda (in-charge) of the Central University of Odisha; and Prof. Soubhagya Ranjan Padhi of IGNTU signed the agreement.

Those present said the joint effort is expected to open new areas of inquiry and give recognition to the depth of tribal knowledge systems, while contributing to the wider development of tribal people.
