Fire At Bachupally; 12 Shops Gutted

No casualties were reported so far.

Hyderabad: A major fire gutted 12 shops near Nizampet circle in Bachupally, on Tuesday night. Fire tenders from three fire stations reached the spot and were working on bringing it under control, according to a report at 11.15 pm. Officials from Kukatpally fire station said that the cause of the fire was not known but a part of it has been brought under control. It would take another hour for officials to douse the flames. No casualties were reported so far.

20 booked in spa raid

Hyderabad: The KPHB police raided a spa centre on Tuesday evening for violations and booked 20 people, including customers and massage therapists. Inspector S. Rajashekhar said the spa was allowing cross-gender massages without certified therapists. Two cases were registered and notices will be served.

Kavitha held for protest in Musi encroachment

Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha was taken into preventive custody for about an hour on Tuesday when she staged a protest in front of Aditya Constructions apartments in Narsingi, alleging encroachment on the Musi river. She demanded that HYDRAA immediately demolish the structure.

Kavitha questioned how the builder was permitted to construct just 30 metres away from the Musi riverbed, and said she had lodged multiple complaints with HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath against five builders, but no action had been taken.

She alleged that permissions were granted during the BRS regime, while the Congress government initially put the construction on hold for six months but later allowed permissions to continue quietly.

Eight-year-old dies in cradle mishap

An eight-year-old girl was found dead in a cradle made out of a sari at her house in Kapra on Tuesday evening. She had not been attending school for the past 10 days. Her mother, a domestic worker, lives separately from her husband due to marital disputes, Jawaharnagar police said.

According to the complaint, the girl had been playing in a cradle arranged for her seven-month-old sister. Her mother stepped out briefly to collect her monthly salary from a nearby house and returned around 7 pm to find her daughter dead. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The mother stated that her daughter may have accidentally strangled herself while playing.

Police initially said the girl had been found hanging, but later clarified that she appeared to have accidentally got stuck in the cradle. Officials said it was being treated as a case of accidental death.

Bike rider Killed, teen hurt in Moula Ali crash

A 23-year-old bike rider was killed and a 15-year-old boy injured in a road accident near Moula Ali Kaman at about 1.30 am on Tuesday. Police said the victim, riding a high-end bike, appeared to have tried to avoid crashing into a car and instead hit the teenager’s moped.

Malkajgiri police identified the deceased as Deshpakh Shreyant, 23, a resident of Ramnagar and store in-charge at an automotive showroom. They said Shreyant was riding at high speed and in the wrong direction when he rammed into the moped.

The injured teen, a resident of Saibabanagar, Dammaiguda, had stepped out with a friend to purchase haleem. He was shifted to hospital for treatment.

3 held for supplying counterfeit household products

The Hyderabad CCS special crime team, along with Goshamahal and Afzalgunj police, apprehended three persons for manufacturing and supplying duplicate branded household products in the city.

The accused were identified as Jaya Ram of Begum Bazaar, Kachhawa Surendera of Dullapally, and Hanuman Ram of Barmer district, Rajasthan. Police said the trio were involved in selling counterfeit tea powder, detergent powder and mosquito repellent refills to retail and wholesale shops.

Officials seized 1,340 packets of duplicate tea powder, 100 fake tea packets, and large quantities of duplicate detergent brands. As many as 3,600 mosquito repellent refills, 9,500 duplicate packing covers and 75kg of raw tea powder were also recovered.

The operation was led by inspector D. Bikshapathi under the supervision of ACP G. Venkateswar Reddy. Investigators revealed that the accused procured low-quality raw materials and fake packaging covers from dealers in Gujarat at discounted prices. They packed and sold the products at lower rates, falsely projecting them as genuine branded items.
