Farmers to Get Unique IDs Linked to Central Schemes

The new 11-digit ID will help farmers get benefits from future central schemes.

Adilabad: The agriculture department has begun registering farmers under the Centre’s 'Farmers Registry,' with plans to issue ID cards similar to Aadhaar. Each registered farmer will be assigned an 11-digit ID, which the Centre may link to upcoming welfare schemes and development initiatives. The ID will be tied to details such as landholding size, soil quality and crops cultivated, all of which will be uploaded to the Ministry of agriculture’s 'Agri Stack' app.

Registration began on Tuesday across villages, with agriculture extension officers (AEOs) collecting and uploading farmer data to the app. Land-related details as of January 1, 2025, have already been collected by the chief commissioner of land administration (CCLA), Telangana, and synced with the central database.

Once a farmer’s Aadhaar number is entered, their landholding details will appear in the app. Farmers can also update or add new land information. The app will display all the land owned by a farmer across India.

Adilabad district agriculture officer Sridhar Swamy stated that the 11-digit ID will function like Aadhaar and may be used for linking central welfare schemes. He clarified that registration is voluntary and not connected to Telangana’s Rythu Bandhu or Rythu Bheema schemes. He also confirmed that state scheme benefits will not be impacted by this registry. Swamy added that the aim is to integrate and digitise individual farmer data on a national platform.
