Farmers Stage Rasta Roko Over Paddy Procurement Delays

ADILABAD: Farmers staged a rasta roko on Rajiv Rahadari at Indaram village in Mancherial district on Saturday, seeking additional paddy procurement centres in Jaipur mandal.

The protesters alleged delays in procurement at existing centres, stating that they were unable to clear stocks from kallalu.

They said paddy stored in gunny bags and in the open was affected by unseasonal rains.

Traffic was disrupted on the highway for a prolonged period due to the protest.

Police reached the spot and persuaded the farmers to withdraw the agitation, following which traffic movement was restored.
