Farmers Stage Dharna Over Realtor Scam
Realtor Jithender Reddy had allegedly collected a total of ₹11 crore from 60 farmers, promising them 1.5 per cent interest per month.

NALGONDA: Farmers on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the house of a realtor in Srirangapuram of Kodad, Suryapet district, demanding return of their money after he told them to wait for their money and went into hiding.
Realtor Jithender Reddy had allegedly collected a total of ₹11 crore from 60 farmers, promising them 1.5 per cent interest per month. Recently, he sent legal notices to 30 farmers stating that the money given to him should not be demanded back for one year. Shocked by the notices, the farmers questioned him, but from the next day he became unavailable at his house in Srirangapuram. His family members also failed to provide information about his whereabouts.
In protest, the farmers erected a tent in front of his house and staged a dharna demanding repayment. They said the notices mentioned he was not in a position to repay their money for at least a year due to financial distress. On receiving information, Kodad police rushed to the spot and convinced the farmers to withdraw, promising an investigation into the matter.
