Family Members Of Saudi Bus Tragedy To Return Hyderabad

The official delegation from Telangana, which had travelled to Saudi Arabia, has also left after performing Umrah pilgrimage, overseeing the mass burial of the deceased and completing other formalities.

Hyderabad: The family members of the Hyderabad Umrah pilgrims who tragically died in a bus accident in Saudi Arabia are expected to return to the city at 1.40 am on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, according to the Haj Committee.

The official delegation from Telangana, which had travelled to Saudi Arabia, has also left after performing Umrah pilgrimage, overseeing the mass burial of the deceased and completing other formalities. The delegation members met the Indian Consul General to ensure that further documentation procedures are fast-tracked.

“As instructed by MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, we had a meeting with Consul General Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri before leaving Saudi Arabia. Deep gratitude to him for his support and commitment to ensuring a seamless process ahead for every affected family. He has also personally assured that all further documentation procedures will be handled and taken care of under his supervision,” MLA Md. Majid Hussain posted on X. He is part of the delegation led by Minister Mohammed Azharuddin.

The deceased pilgrims were laid to rest in Jannat al-Baqi in Madina, with funeral prayers held at Masjid-e-Nabawi on November 22, 2025. The state government had facilitated the travel of two family members for each victim to Saudi Arabia to coordinate identification, complete documentation — including DNA testing in cases where remains were charred — and participate in the final rites.

The state government has expedited the process of handing over ex-gratia of `5 lakh to the next of kin of those who died in the Madina mishap. The Saudi government, which is probing the accident, is handling legal procedures related to compensation through insurance and statutory processes. No lump-sum “direct government compensation fund” has been announced so far, and the standard legal pathway remains in progress.
