The ministry of external affairs has released 139 Indian migrants: Reports

NIZAMABAD: Families of four migrant workers from the undivided Nizamabad district are awaiting their safe return from Russia, where they were allegedly recruited for employment but instead made to serve in the Russian military.
Four persons from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts were sent to Russia after being promised employment. According to migrants’ activist Gangula Muralidhar Reddy, some Telangana migrants obtained Russian citizenship and were subsequently forced into military service.
The ministry of external affairs has released 139 Indian migrants, who are expected to return to their native places soon. However, the four migrant workers from the undivided Nizamabad district have not yet been released, Reddy said.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Reddy said each migrant had been promised a salary of `8 lakh a year and that middlemen had allegedly misused the funds.
“We are pursuing the situation for safe return of migrant workers from Russia”, Reddy said.
NRI Advisory Committee vice-chairman Manda Bheem Reddy said efforts were also being made for the safe release of Telangana workers from Russia.
