Fake SIR Staff Steal Woman’s 3-Tola Mangalsutra
Police are examining CCTV camera footage from the area to identify the accused
Nalgonda: A woman was allegedly duped by two unidentified persons posing as special intensive revision (SIR) enumeration staff, who snatched her three-tola gold mangalsutra at Bibinagar in Yadadri-Bhongir district on Sunday, police said.
According to the police, the two men arrived on a motorcycle at the house of Kukkadopu Andalu and her husband and introduced themselves as SIR staff. They asked Andalu to remove her mangalsutra, claiming it should not be visible while they took her photograph. Believing them, she handed the necklace to her husband, who was standing outside the house.
After taking photographs, the duo told Andalu to meet officials at a nearby temple to complete the SIR form and asked her to accompany them. After walking about 200 metres, the two men suddenly rode back towards her husband, snatched the gold mangalsutra from his hands and fled.
Based on Andalu's complaint, Bibinagar police registered a case. Police are examining CCTV camera footage from the area to identify the accused.
