Hyderabad: A fake birth and death certificates racket was busted at Bayyaram, Mahabubabad district by arrested four persons.
A private outsourcing employee working in the Bayyaram MPDO office stole the secret digital keys of the Gram Panchayat secretaries. He intercepted those digital keys and opened a fake business using Meeseva net centers as a backstop.
A total of 270 birth certificates and 19 death certificates were illegally issued without any qualification. More importantly, the police investigation revealed that some of the scammers also used these fake death certificates to collect insurance money.
It was reported that around Rs.30 lakh to Rs.40 lakh changed hands in this entire scam. The police have arrested four members of the gang involved in the fraud. However, the police are investigating who else is involved in this illegal scheme and the masterminds behind it.
This incident is yet another warning that anyone who messes with the law will face severe punishment, the police said.
