Hyderabad:The Independent Expert Working Group, which was formed by the Telangana government to review the caste survey, has selected a framework to analyse datasets, drawing on sociological and econometric researches published in leading peer-reviewed journals across the world.

Under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy, the working group held its second meeting at MCRHRDI, Jubilee Hills on Monday. A comprehensive review of the methodology used in the Socio-Economic, Education, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) Survey 2024 was undertaken. The group unanimously commended the methodology and scientific approach in the survey.

The group cautioned political leaders and the media from making assertions in the public before a detailed analysis and interpretation of the dataset is completed.

In the meeting, principal secretary (industries, commerce and information technology) Jayesh Ranjan and his team presented artificial intelligence tools to validate, verify, and enable a natural language interface for querying and analysing the SEEEPC survey dataset. This process will be carried out without sharing any data with external software or organisations; all data will remain securely on state servers with the state government.

The SEEEPC Survey 2024 is billed as a landmark initiative, holding potential significance for Telangana and the nation.

This meeting was attended by the group's vice-chairman Kancha Ilaiah, convener Praveen Chakravarty, Prof. Shantha Sinha, Prof. Dr Sukhadeo Thorat, Nikhil Dey, Prof. Himanshu. Special invitees Prof. Thomas Piketty and Prof. Jean Dreze sent their views via email. The group will re-convene on April 26.
