Everyone Must Plant Trees to Protect Environment: Konda Surekha
Surekha stressed the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring timely rainfall
WARANGAL: Forest, environment and endowments minister Konda Surekha has urged people to plant trees and take responsibility for nurturing and protecting every sapling.
Speaking at the Vanamahotsavam programme at RangaSaipet Government Junior College on Tuesday, Surekha stressed the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and ensuring timely rainfall.
She planted saplings, inaugurated an open gym and visited departmental stalls. She called for plantation drives in homes, schools and government offices and urged people to plant trees on occasions such as birthdays and weddings.
District Collector Dr Satya Sarada said Warangal had set a target of 25 lakh saplings, of which 13 lakh had already been planted. CCF Bhima Naik highlighted the role of forests in mitigating climate change.
