Ensure Animals Safety In Nehru, Kakatiya Zoological Parks In Summer: Konda Surekha
The Minister enquired about the equipment being used to prevent forest fires across the State

Hyderabad: Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha on Tuesday instructed officials to lay special focus on the safety of animals at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad and Kakatiya Zoological Park in Hanamkonda in the wake of sweltering heat conditions in the State.
She asked officials to take necessary steps to supply water and food, especially watermelons and cucumbers to the wildlife. She gave these instructions while participating in a video conference to review the situation with officials concerned in her chambers in the Secretariat on forest fire accidents apart from prevention and wildlife conservation measures.
The Minister enquired about the equipment being used to prevent forest fires across the State and whether all the equipment is available to tackle the situation if a major fires break out. She sought to know the district, which registered more fire accidents and the steps being taken to protect the wildlife from these incidents.
The Minister also asked the Wildlife Board officials whether adequate drinking water facilities were provided for wildlife and other animals in the forests and zoos in view of the summer. The officials informed her that as many as 2,168 water pits have been set up for animals this summer and tankers were used to fill these pits with water.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) (Head of Forest Force) (Full Additional Charge), Dr. C. Suvarna, PCCF (Protection and Vigilance) Elusing Meru, Chief Conservator of Forests of various zones and District Forest Officers (DFOs) of all districts were also present.
