Engineering Students Find DeepSeek More Reliable
Students commend DeepSeek for its accuracy, while ChatGPT continues to be a preferred option for its creativity.
Hyderabad: OpenAI’s ChatGPT has been the go-to name for artificial intelligence and a preferred option for students, but locking horns with it is a newcomer from China: DeepSeek, which broke into the news cycle last week and cost hi-tech companies over $1trillion in the stock market.
Although ChatGPT is leading in the communications and language-based content generation field, DeepSeek has advanced in other AI-backed features like coding, mathematical and scientific fields.
Engineering students in private colleges say that DeepSeek is performing better than ChatGPT in handling technical questions and coding problems. Students claim DeepSeek provides more accurate answers in specific areas of study in comparison to ChatGPT.
Many students rely on AI for complex subjects like programming, data structures, and machine learning. The student said that they use AI models to not just solve problems, but also for more creative solutions. However, when the choice is between ChatGPT and DeepSeek, they find the Chinese AI chatbot to be more reliable for technical concepts.
“ChatGPT is good for general discussions and answers, but when it comes to specific coding issues, DeepSeek is giving better solutions”, said T. Vishwanath, a computer science engineering student from a private college in Hyderabad.
Vishwanath further said: “Sometimes, ChatGPT gives outdated codes or incorrect code, and I have to explain the situation to GPT multiple times before it gives me a working code. DeepSeek makes mistakes too, but it is way less frequent and within two to three prompts I get a running code.”
Priyansh Goud, another engineering student, said he used both ChatGPT and DeepSeek for debugging code. “When I asked ChatGPT to find an error in a Python code, it gave me a solution which didn’t work. But DeepSeek pointed out the exact mistake in my code, and even suggested an alternative method. That saved me a lot of time.”
Despite DeepSeek’s advantages, some students still prefer ChatGPT for certain tasks. “For writing reports and giving creative ideas, ChatGPT is still my first choice. “It’s better at understanding natural language and gives creative responses,” Priyansh said.
As AI chatbots continue to improve, more and more tools are being developed by companies and developers to help with specific tasks, which will help its users get more detailed and accurate results.
