Elderly woman dies from smoke inhalation in Malkajgiri

Landlord Santhosh called Anasuya's son Mohan Raman stating smoke was coming from the room who immediately suggested to open up the room

Hyderabad: An 82-year-old woman died of suffocation after her bed caught fire as a burning mosquito coil fell on it.

The incident occurred in Malkajgiri when her son Mohan Srinivas was away in Bengaluru.

Anasuya was in the care of a caretaker who lit a mosquito coil and placed it near her bed. A part of the bed caught fire and started releasing thick smoke into the room. Due to her bedridden condition, Anasuya was unable to escape or avoid the smoke.

Landlord Santhosh called Anasuya's son Mohan Raman stating smoke was coming from the room who immediately suggested to open up the room. Santhosh also informed the police and with the help of local police, they broke open the door and rushed Anasuya to the Railway Hospital in Lalaguda. She was put on a ventilator to assist with her breathing, however her condition worsened, and she passed away on Wednesday.
