Elaborate Arrangements Made for Peaceful Ganesh Immersion in Hyderabad

The government has urged Ganesh mandap organisers and devotees to coordinate with authorities and ensure that the immersion procession is conducted peacefully, without causing inconvenience to the public or disrupting traffic.

All departments, including the police, GHMC, revenue, electricity, traffic, HYDRAA, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, medical and transport departments, have been put on alert and are working in coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the immersion, said BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

Prabhakar, who is also incharge Minister of Hyderabad, said around 20,000 police personnel have been deployed for security along the immersion procession routes. As many as 10,000 CCTV cameras and 24 drones are being used for continuous surveillance.

SHE Teams and special crime teams have also been deployed to ensure the safety of women and prevent chain-snatching and thefts.

The government has been closely monitoring the immersion routes, Tank Bund, major lakes, water bodies and traffic conditions, besides taking advance measures wherever required. Aerial surveys have also been conducted to assess the situation and issue necessary instructions to officials.

For sanitation and civic arrangements, GHMC has deployed 136 Ganesh Action Teams (GATs) at intervals of every three to four kilometres along the procession routes. Around 770 sanitation workers have been deployed round the clock at immersion points, while 6,000 sweeping workers have been assigned to clear garbage.

As many as 287 mobile toilets have been made available for 24 hours along immersion routes and at key locations. Temporary lighting arrangements numbering 43,270 have also been made along roads leading to lakes, ponds, immersion points and procession routes.

The authorities have installed 110 static cranes and 170 mobile cranes at major lakes, ponds and immersion points to facilitate the quick and safe immersion of idols. Twelve joint control rooms have also been established in coordination with the police department.

HYDRAA has deployed special rescue teams, trained swimmers and boats at Hussainsagar and other immersion points. Baby ponds and alternative immersion centres have also been prepared as part of environmental protection measures.

The electricity department has made special arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply along the procession routes. Metro Rail, RTC and Railways have made additional arrangements to facilitate the movement of devotees.

Ambulances and paramedical personnel have been positioned in coordination with District Medical and Health Officers. Traffic police have taken special measures to regulate vehicular movement, and the public has been advised to follow police instructions and use alternative routes wherever necessary.

The government said the safety and convenience of devotees remain its top priority and urged people not to panic. Devotees and mandap organisers have been asked to cooperate with the police, GHMC and other departments and ensure that the celebrations remain peaceful and orderly.
