Eflu students all praise for French author and filmmaker Claudel

HYDERABAD: Renowned French author and filmmaker Philippe Claudel shared his insights on humanity and confinement during a lecture at The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) here on Monday.
Addressing students and the faculty, Claudel, who also serves as president of the Académie Goncourt in France, spoke about the close connections between art, literature, and society.
Organised by the Department of French and Francophone Studies, the event, titled ‘Explorer l’humanité derrière les barreaux’, was aimed at delving into a deeper understanding of contemporary French literature and cinema. Drawing on his extensive experience, Claudel engaged the audience with his thoughts on creativity and its role in exploring human experiences.
Coordinated by Dr Uma Damodar Sridhar, HoD, the lecture was attended by 70 participants, who appreciated the chance to engage with one of the leading figures in modern French literature.
The welcome speech was delivered by Anoushka, an MA student and member of the EFLU student jury for the Goncourt Choice of India event.
Later at an interactive session, Claudel answered questions from attendees, offering a closer look at his literary philosophy and creative journey.
Payal Sharma, a PhD scholar and president of the Eflu student jury, proposed the vote of thanks.
