Eco-Tourism Projects at Ooty of Telangana in Mulugu Ahead of Medaram Jatara
Seethakka said the misty mornings and lush greenery of Mulugu rival popular hill stations such as Ooty and Kodaikanal

WARANGAL: In a bid to promote Mulugu as a major eco-tourism destination, panchayat raj minister Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Saturday inaugurated a series of eco-tourism projects ahead of the Sammakka–Saralamma Maha Jatara, scheduled to be held from January 28 to 31 at Medaram in Tadvai mandal of Mulugu district.
Amid the dense forests of the Tadvai Wildlife Management Range, the minister launched jungle safari services and luxury forest stay facilities, encouraging visitors to experience Telangana’s rich natural landscape away from urban pollution.
Seethakka, accompanied by district collector T.S. Divakar, superintendent of police Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and district forest officer Rahul Kishan Jadav, flagged off two specially designed safari vehicles. The vehicles will take tourists on an 18 km journey deep into the forest, offering opportunities to observe the region’s diverse flora and fauna.
To enhance visitor experience, six newly constructed wooden huts were inaugurated near the National Highway at Tadvai. Designed with an aesthetic appeal, the huts offer modern amenities while allowing visitors to stay close to nature.
A major attraction was the reopening of Blackberry Island, located about 3 km inside the forest near the Parsa-Tadvai road. The island has been developed as a secluded retreat and will now offer night camping facilities for adventure enthusiasts.
The minister also inaugurated a new viewpoint at Jalagalancha Vagu, which provides a panoramic view of the vast forest landscape, often described as a “green ocean”.
Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said the misty mornings and lush greenery of Mulugu rival popular hill stations such as Ooty and Kodaikanal. She urged families to choose Mulugu over crowded urban destinations, highlighting the region’s clean air, scenic beauty, Bogatha waterfalls and ancient forests as sources of physical and mental rejuvenation.
She further said that an island located in the historic Ramappa lake is currently being beautified. Once opened to the public, it will offer a blend of Kakatiya heritage and natural serenity, strengthening Mulugu’s position as an emerging tourism hub.
With the Medaram Jatara approaching, officials said the newly launched safari services, trekking routes and eco-tourism facilities are expected to provide devotees and tourists with a unique mix of spiritual and nature-based experiences.
