Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idols Promoted at Begumpet College

Hyderabad:The department of botany and Eco-Club of the Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet, in collaboration with the Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB), organised “Clay to Celebration, Eco-Friendly Ganesha Making Competition and Idol Distribution” on Friday on the college premises.

Principal Prof. K. Padmavathi and IQAC Coordinator Dr T. Annie Sheron spoke about the objectives of the programme and stressed the importance of celebrating festivals in an environmentally responsible manner. The Principal reiterated the need to use eco-friendly clay idols and create awareness among students about protecting water bodies and reducing pollution during celebrations.

Students participated enthusiastically in the competition, showcasing creativity and commitment to sustainable practices. Faculty members encouraged them to carry forward the message of eco-consciousness into their homes and communities, ensuring that the impact of the initiative extended beyond the campus.

As part of the programme, TGPCB distributed eco-friendly clay Ganesha idols to staff and students, urging them to adopt sustainable practices and set an example for society. The event successfully conveyed the message of “Green and Responsible Celebrations” and promoted environmental awareness among the college community, reinforcing the idea that small steps at the individual level can contribute to larger environmental protection goals.
