ECINET Portal Now Accepts All 11 Supporting Documents
Portal update removes technical hurdles, easing document submission for voters
Hyderabad: The Citizen Service Portal (ECINET) now accepts all 11 officially recognised supporting documents online for the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. Previously, the portal allowed only birth certificates, matriculation or educational certificates and passports.
According to sources, all 11 documents can now be uploaded directly via the ECINET application and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Telangana SIR portal. The dropdown menu was expanded following representations regarding technical constraints. Earlier, users replying to SIR discrepancy notices could upload only three document types. The platform has now been updated to support all categories digitally, removing bottlenecks for electors.
If a voter has received an SIR notice regarding discrepancies in Telangana, they can upload any of the following valid documents online: birth certificate, Indian passport, Aadhaar card (as per ECI guidelines), school/matriculation or educational certificates, government employee or pensioner ID card/PPO, pre‑July 1, 1987 government‑issued documents, permanent residence certificate, caste certificate, family register, land or house allotment certificate, and forest rights certificate or NRC records. Physical submission to Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) is not required unless explicitly requested after review.
This development follows a representation submitted by advocates Neha Amreen and Qudsia Tabassum to CEO C. Sudarshan Reddy earlier this week. They sought inclusion of all 11 categories prescribed under the SIR process by the Election Commission of India. “The representation highlighted that limited choice could cause hardship to genuine electors possessing other recognised documents. The change would help electors submit the documents they actually possess and reduce unnecessary procedural difficulties during verification,” they noted.
Meanwhile, the CEO directed officials to provide acknowledgement to voters following submission of documents in response to notices. As per a memo issued on August 28, poll officials were instructed to acknowledge the appearance of electors or adult family members in person and submission of documents. The ERO or AERO must issue a signed acknowledgement including EPIC number and details of documents submitted on the day of hearing.
