Future City Road to Link NH, SH

Corridor to link highways, boost industry and ease congestion

Hyderabad: An east-west greenfield trunk road is set to come up at Bharat Future City, linking the Srisailam Highway (NH-765) with the Nagarjunasagar Road (SH-19), official sources said. The corridor, being developed within the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) limits, will link key industrial areas and form a crucial cross-axis in the planned urban-industrial region.

The trunk road is expected to connect industrial zones, logistics hubs and residential neighbourhoods, thereby ensuring balanced urban growth.

The corridor will act as a primary cross-axis complementing Radial Road No. 1 (Raviryal-Amangal) and is expected to enhance multi-modal, high-speed connectivity across the southern growth corridor, sources said. Positioned between two major highways, the new route is expected to improve east-west mobility, ease internal congestion and reduce pressure on existing road networks.

Designs were finalised for smooth and uninterrupted travel featuring elements such as gentle curves, improved visibility, and elevated stretches at major junctions. Provisions for future mass transit systems and integrated utility infrastructure have been built into the design to make the corridor future-ready, sources said.

Key interchanges at crossing points will ensure traffic flow and accessibility, while careful alignment of the route will help avoid disruption in sensitive or densely developed areas. The alignment will primarily use undeveloped or government-owned land, thereby minimising acquisition hurdles.

Once operational, the corridor will integrate with existing and upcoming radial roads. It is expected to aid intra-city movement, facilitate freight transport and enable efficient public infrastructure including Metro Rail extensions and signal-free junctions.

The FCDA, which is leading the transformation of south Hyderabad into a smart and sustainable urban-industrial hub, views the trunk road as a catalyst for economic activation. Anchored by Bharat Future City, the development model integrates climate-resilient planning, multimodal infrastructure, and industry-focused growth strategies.

Projects such as Radial Road No. 1 and the East-West Corridor are central to the authority’s vision of decongestion, connectivity, and modern infrastructure.

Officials said that once completed, these projects will position FCDA as a benchmark for next-generation city planning in India, embodying principles of integrated metro connectivity, utility corridors and green infrastructure. The East-West Trunk Road will not only ease travel across the city’s southern corridor but also lay the foundation for future-ready urbanism in Hyderabad, sources added.
