Eagle Team Seizes Ganja Worth ₹1.52 Crore In Bhadradri-Kothagudem

Nalgonda: In a joint operation, the Telangana EAGLE team and the Regional Narcotics Control Cell (RNCC), Khammam, on Wednesday arrested four persons and seized 304 kg of ganja worth ₹1.52 crore. The seizure was made after intercepting a container at Atchutapuram crossroads within the limits of Dammapeta police station in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
The arrested persons were identified as Vanthala Yemalaiah, 29, from Andhra Pradesh, and B. Arjun, 25, M. Shanmugham, 28, and Devakar, 19, all from Tamil Nadu.
According to police, personnel of the Telangana EAGLE Team and RNCC intercepted a goods container and a car during a vehicle check while they were travelling from Rajahmundry towards Sathupally. On inspection, police found 304 kg of ganja concealed in secret compartments inside the container.
Investigations revealed that the contraband was procured from Bananduli in Odisha and was being transported to Chennai. Police said three other persons involved in the ganja smuggling racket managed to escape, and efforts are on to nab them.
