DY CM Bhatti Vikramarka Lays Foundation for Dharmapuri Temple Renovation
Plan to transform the historic shrine into a world-class pilgrimage centre.
Karimnagar: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka laid the foundation for renovation of the Sri Ugra Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple in Dharmapuri of Jagtial district on Monday.
Vikramarka, along with Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, laid the foundation at 2.58 am amid loud chanting of Vedic hymns.
As part of a plan to develop all shrines, the state government decided to renovate the Dharmapuri temple by spending Rs 200 crore. The deputy CM launched the works of the Ugra Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple, which will be renovated with a fund of Rs 10 crore.
Later, Vikramarka and Laxman performed poojas in the Ugra Lakshminarasimha Swamy and Sri Yogananda Lakshminarasimha Swamy temples.
Vikramarka said the previous governments had promised to develop the shrine but did not sanction a single rupee for the purpose. However, the Congress government has sanctioned Rs 117 crore to develop the shrine.
Based on a request from the local MLA and minister Laxman Kumar, another Rs 80 crore was also sanctioned as per instructions from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he said.
The shrine would be developed as a world-class centre for prayer by spending Rs 200 crore, he said.
On the Godavari pushkaralu, the deputy CM said all arrangements were being made for the events from Basara to Badrachalam. As part of the pushkaralu, all temples located on the banks of Godavari river were being developed with governmental funding, he said.
Vikramarka also launched works for nine types of basic facilities for pilgrims, which would cost Rs 58.55 crore, apart from the construction of pushkara ghats with Rs 22.16 crore and a sub-station at Thimmapur of Dharmapuri mandal.
