DSP Seniority Dispute: High Court Gives Telangana Government Final Chance to State Stand
The court made it clear that it was the final opportunity for the state to submit its stand

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has granted the state government a final opportunity to spell out its stand by July 28 on a batch of petitions challenging the recruitment and seniority framework governing Category-II deputy superintendents of police (DSPs). The court had twice earlier directed the government to submit its stand.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin was hearing petitions filed by 31 newly recruited Category-II DSPs selected through the recently concluded Group-I recruitment process. The petitioners challenged the ad hoc rules issued in October 2025, contending that they altered the criteria for determining seniority among newly recruited DSPs.
According to the petitioners, although the rules framed under the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution were not expressly given retrospective effect, an order issued by DGP in December 2025 made them applicable to the current batch of probationary DSPs who commenced training on October 27, 2025. This adversely affected their seniority, the petitioners said.
Government counsel informed the bench that the issues raised by the petitioners remained under active examination by the state and sought further time to obtain instructions. The court made it clear that it was the final opportunity for the state to submit its stand.
TIMS Recruitment: High Court Orders Acceptance of DMIT Candidates' Applications
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has granted interim relief to four Diploma in Medical Imaging Technician (DMIT) candidates, directing the authorities to accept their applications for technician posts notified by the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims), while ordering that their results shall not be declared until further orders.
Justice K. Sarath passed the interim order while hearing a writ petition filed by the candidates who challenged the eligibility criteria prescribed in the recruitment notification issued by the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) for appointments at TIMS.
The petitioners contended that they possessed the qualification of Diploma in Medical Imaging Technician (DMIT) and were eligible for appointment to the posts of X-Ray/C-Arm Technician Grade-II, CT Technician Grade-II and MRI Technician under the ad hoc Rules notified through GO Ms. No. 65 of the health department, dated July 9, 2018. They argued that the recruitment notification dated June 22, 2026, issued by Nims unlawfully excluded DMIT diploma holders by prescribing BSc Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology as the requisite qualification.
