Dry Port to Come Up in Chityal Mandal, Reveals R&B Minister

Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday revealed the state government is planning to establish a dry port near Veliminedu in Chityal mandal. A letter has been sent to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman regarding the proposal. Positioned near the upcoming Regional Ring Road, the dry port is expected to enhance trade by facilitating the transport of goods across the state.

He refuted allegations made by Opposition leaders about ongoing road projects in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, accusing them of spreading false propaganda for personal gain.

Addressing the media, the minister criticised the Opposition for resorting to "downgraded politics" even after their defeat in the 2023 legislative Assembly elections. He alleged that certain Opposition leaders, who lost land during the Tirumalagiri-Suryapet road expansion, were spreading baseless rumours to mislead the public. Claims that residents of Arvepally would lose land due to a flyover project were dismissed as false.

"No flyover will be constructed at Arvepally on National Highway No. 365. The survey conducted was for junction development to prevent road accidents, not for flyover construction. No land acquisition is required for this work," he clarified.

The minister further said that flyovers would not be constructed at Gowrelly-Bhadrachalam road, Pedda Amberpet, Ramoji Film City, or Bata Singaram along National Highway No. 65. He announced that work to convert NH-65 into a six-lane road would start in three months and is expected to be completed within 18 months. The project aims to make the highway accident-free and reduce travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
