Drainage Overflow Troubles in Uppal IDA

Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said the road is at a lower level compared to the nearby road, which causes water to collect.

Hyderabad: Drainage water has been overflowing on Uppal road ahead of DSL Mall for the past two days, causing inconvenience to commuters and people passing by. Locals, however, say that the issue occurs every time it rains.

According to locals, the drainage line overflows almost every time it rains, and the water remains on the road. “The overflowing drain water has spread across the road and made it slippery and dirty. Though the issue is near the footpath, it emits a foul smell and is problematic for pedestrians,” said P. Bhavani, a local resident.

“This happens every time it rains. The water overflows and spreads across the road, making it hard for us to walk or ride,” said Jitendra.

Another pedestrian, Goutham Viraj, said, “It’s not just water — it smells really bad. Authorities should fix it properly, not just clean it once in a while.”

Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said the road is at a lower level compared to the nearby road, which causes water to collect.

“Due to rain and garbage getting stuck in the line, the water overflowed. We are working on clearing the drainage line to fix it, and plans are in place to resolve the issue permanently,” said Santhosh Kumar, general manager, HMWSSB.
