Ramesh Takes Charge As Cyberabad Top Cop
Dr. Ramesh said that the foremost responsibility of the Cyberabad Police would be to uphold the rule of law and ensure impartial and fair treatment for all citizens, emphasizing professionalism, transparency, and people-centric policing

HYDERABAD: Dr M. Ramesh, a 2005-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, assumed charge as commissioner of police, Cyberabad, on Tuesday, succeeding Avinash Mohanty.
Earlier in the day, officers and staff across the commissionerate bid farewell to Mohanty at the Commissioner’s office. Dr Ramesh was previously serving as Inspector General of Police (Provisioning and Logistics) and was holding full additional charge as IGP, police transport organisation. An officer of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh cadre, he hails from an agricultural family in Masthipuram village of Wanaparthy district.
During his career, Dr Ramesh has held several key field and administrative positions, including superintendent of police, West Godavari district; joint director, Anti-Corruption Bureau; assistant inspector general (Law and Order) at the DGP’s office; group commander of the Greyhounds; and chief security officer to the Chief Minister.
After assuming charge, Dr Ramesh said the foremost responsibility of the Cyberabad police would be to uphold the rule of law and ensure impartial and fair treatment to all citizens. He emphasised professionalism, transparency and people-centric policing, and said maintaining law and order would remain his top priority. He also identified traffic management as a key focus area, directing officials to conduct regular drunk-driving checks, particularly in view of the New Year celebrations.
Dr Ramesh is a recipient of several service medals, including the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and is known for his work in intelligence, anti-corruption and technology-driven policing initiatives.
