Don’t Fall into the Trap of Political Parties: Revanth to OU Students

The Chief Minister said that he was fulfilling the promise of allocation of Rs.1000 crore for the infrastructure development of the Osmania University and promoted it as the world's premier institution

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday appealed to the Osmania University students not to fall into the trap of the political parties and instead focus on pursuing studies to make a good career in their lives.

The students should also possess leadership qualities and grow as good leaders to rule the State, he asserted.

Participating in a programme in the Osmania University, the Chief Minister said that he was fulfilling the promise of allocation of Rs.1000 crore for the infrastructure development of the Osmania University and promoted it as the world's premier institution.

“I arrived at the university with a heart full of admiration and to pave the way for the development of the university", Revanth Reddy said, adding that courage does not require you to visit the university. It needs only affection and admiration.

The Chief Minister remembered the active role of the university during the Telangana struggle. Telangana is a society full of consciousness and daring. A rebellion started in Telangana when people were suppressed with dominance. From Komuram Bheem to the armed peasant struggle, people revolted against dominance.

The Osmania University and Kakatiya University students’ role in achieving Telangana was commendable.

During the Telangana movement, the Chief Minister said that students demanded freedom, social justice and equal opportunities. They did not insist on farm houses and lands. The Osmania University was also credited with producing great leaders like PV Narasimha Rao, Jaipal Reddy, George Reddy, Gaddar etc.

In a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, Revanth Reddy said that the university was deliberately neglected for 10 years. The BRS leaders built farm houses in hundreds of acres of lands. Not a single dalit family was given three acres of land in the last government, he charged.

Revanth Reddy also took a swipe at the BRS leaders for making comments on his education. He studied in a government school. He does not possess skills in foreign languages but understands the plight of the poorer sections.

Expertise in the English language does not mean possessing knowledge. English is only a communication tool. "We are providing freedom, social justice, and equal opportunities in the people's government. The government's intention is to provide assistance to the poor and helpless,” he said, affirming that he will rescue Telangana from the evil forces.

Reacting to a challenge by a BRS leader to come to Arts College, he said that he did not own farm houses and looted public money like the opposition leaders. "I am standing before you as CM with the blessings of weaker sections. My aspiration is to deliver good governance which will be remembered forever in history.”

Further, the Chief Minister answered the questions posed by the opposition on his performance during the two year rule. In the last two years, the people's government declared the Telangana song, installed the Telangana Talli statue, implemented SC categorization, conducted the Caste census and forced the centre to do the same.

Revanth Reddy stressed that education is important for empowerment. Lack of land may be poverty but lack of education is backwardness. The government does not have land to distribute. The State government was providing education opportunities to all the needy with a strong intention of bringing changes in lives of all the poor.

"We are establishing integrated residential schools to remove caste discrimination,” he said, stating Young India Skills University was established to develop skills of the youth and prominent industrialist Anand Mahindra was appointed as the chairperson of Skills University to inspire the youth.

“We have also set up Young India Sports University with the aim of winning medals in the 2036 Olympics. We are planning to bring out talent by appointing great persons as board directors. If we have knowledge and commitment, we can achieve anything,” Revanth Reddy said that a Committee has already been formed to appoint teaching and non teaching staff in the university.

The Chief Minister instructed the authorities that there should be no political obligation in the selection process. No one has the right to spoil the future of children. Since Osmania University is the heart of Telangana, the appointment should be done in a transparent manner to shape the future of students in a better way.
