Distress Calls Decline at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi
Over 160 Telangana natives sheltered at Telangana Bhavan receive aid; students choose home over early campus return

Hyderabad: With the improvement of the situation on the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control on Sunday, the number of distress calls being received at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi has reduced.
About 162 Telangana natives, mostly students, arrived in Telangana Bhavan by Monday seeking the government's help to transport them to the state safely. However, students said they were not keen to return to their universities or colleges and preferred to return to their native places.
Out of 162 individuals, 56 were students from educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir and 106 from Punjab. Out of these, 130 persons have departed for their hometowns after receiving necessary assistance. The remaining individuals are being accommodated at Telangana Bhavan and will leave in due course.
Telangana Bhavan’s resident commissioner Gaurav Uppal on Monday reviewed arrangements and interacted with the students. Many students conveyed to him that their institutions were asking them to return to campus as the situation in border areas was showing signs of improvement. However, a majority of them expressed the desire to visit their homes first and return to their institutions once the situation fully stabilises.
Uppal reached out to the university authorities and urged them to facilitate online classes for the time being. The institutions responded positively and agreed to extend such support. A few final-year students also conveyed their intention to wait for a few more days before making a decision.
With conditions gradually improving, the flow of distress calls has significantly reduced since Sunday evening, and only a few more arrivals are anticipated. However, Uppal said the state government will continue to extend all necessary support until every returning citizen is safely reunited with their families.
