Disability Is Strength, Says Bandi Sanjay

The initiative was funded by Indian Oil Corporation Limited under the ADIP and ALIMCO schemes.

KARIMNAGAR: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday said physical disability should be seen as a strength rather than a limitation, asserting that success depends on willpower. He was speaking at a programme in Sircilla where 813 assistive devices worth ₹84 lakh were distributed to 466 persons with disabilities. District collector Garima Agarwal attended the event.

The initiative was funded by Indian Oil Corporation Limited under the ADIP and ALIMCO schemes. Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Kumar said over ₹100 crore had been spent on the welfare of persons with disabilities, pregnant women and the elderly in the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency.

He said the Union government had increased budget allocation for disability welfare compared to the previous UPA government, with ₹1,600 crore earmarked this year for schemes such as Accessible India and digital identification. The minister said the government aims to provide assistive equipment to all eligible beneficiaries. He added that funds for nutrition in anganwadis, including milk and eggs for children and pregnant women, are provided by the Centre.

He urged beneficiaries to remain confident and said individuals should not be defined by physical limitations, encouraging them to pursue opportunities in arts, sports and technology.
