Dilsukhnagar twin blasts: Terrorists used elaichi as code word for detonator: NIA
IM operatives used coded language to discuss various operations, tasks, and finance arrangements

Hyderabad: The banned Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists involved in the deadly 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts used code language calling detonator as ‘elaichi’ (cardamom) and nitrate explosive substance as NNN, according to National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Eighteen people lost their lives, while 131 suffered injuries in two separate blasts - one at A1 Mirchi Centre and another 107 bus station, both in Dilsukhnagar.
The NIA, which probed the case, arrested five persons - A B.Pharmacy graduate Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi of Uttar Pradesh, Zia ur Rahman alias Waqas alias Javed of Pakistan, Mohd. Tahseen Akhtar alias Hassan alias Monu of Bihar, Mohammed Ahmed Siddibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal alias Sharukh of Karnataka and Ajaz Shaikh alias Samar Armaan Tunde alias Sagar of Pune. Yasin Bhatkal is the co-founder of IM and key conspirator in several blasts.
On Tuesday, Telangana High Court upheld a trial court's verdict awarding death penalty to five accused of IM.
Asadullah Akhtar used to chat with the prime accused Riyaz Bhatkal alias Ismail Shahbandri from Karnataka, who is absconding till now and with one Mirza Shadab Baig, using coded language of different accounts of Yahoo.
He used to discuss various operations, tasks, and finance arrangements for funding their activities.
The code language used by Asadullah Akhtar to refer Yasin Bhatkal as - 'JJ', 'Cappt', 'Capital (Kathmandu or Delhi)', while referred Bal Bahadur Thapa, who was associated at Nepal, as 'Pandittji', Waqas as 'Jadd' and Tahseen Akhtar was referred as 'hss' or 'hazil'.
To prevent intelligence agencies from tracking them, Asadullah Akhtar referred to explosives as 'kalungii', nitrate as 'nnn' and detonators as 'elaichi' (cardamom).
He called Nimbuzz chat as 'n', Al-Qaeda in Waziristan as 'waagu', IM operative Jabrood of Bhatkal as 'aslm', Mohsin Chaudhary of Pune as 'alii' and Indian Mujaheedin (IM) operative Shahzad as 'bigaduu'.
The five accused along with Riyaz Bhatkal executed their plans and planted bombs on February 21, 2013 at 6.58 pm at 107 Bus Stop and at A1 Mirchi Centre in Dilsukhnagar. Before the blast, the accused collected explosive material - tubes, semi solid pinkish coloured ANFO and detonators - in Mangalore in January 2013.
On February 20, Asadullah Akhtar, Waqas and Tahseen Akhtar purchased two seven and half liters pressure cookers from a store in LB Nagar for filling explosives in them. On the same day, the accused purchased a bicycle at Thursday market in Jummerat Bazar to park it near the bus stop with explosives.
They purchased one meter plastic sheet near Chaderghat Bridge for packing and filling explosives in pressure cookers. After completing their tasks, they triggered blasts on February 21, 2013 and fled the city.
