Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts victims hail HC’s verdict; Urge govt. to execute death penalty to convicts

The victims celebrated the High Court's decision, distributing sweets with one another

Hyderabad: The victims of 2013 Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts, which snuffed out the lives of over 18 people, hailed the judgment of the High Court on Tuesday. The victims celebrated the High Court's decision, distributing sweets with one another.

Though it was too late, the court’s decision would render justice to the victims, said K Pandu Reddy, owner of the Mirchi Centre in Dilsukhnagar, where one of the twin blasts took place. Reddy said 14 people died at the Mirchi Centre.

His relatives also suffered serious injuries in the blast and some of them were yet to come out of the trauma they were suffering since 2013. Half a dozen family members of Reddy escaped with injuries while working in the Mirchi centre. Of them, Reddy’s brother-in-law Bakka Reddy continued to face hearing problems.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle after the court’s judgment, Reddy said the then State government in 2013 and the BRS government failed to ensure justice to them. The government promised to bear the expenses of the injuries post-treatment but nothing concrete happened forcing them to bear medical expenses on their own.

“We are suffering for no fault of ours,” Reddy said. Responding to the court’s verdict, he said the judgment would certainly render justice to them though it was too late. After the verdict, the State government and Centre must take necessary steps to complete formalities of executing the court’s decision at the earliest.

“Till how many years we have to wait. The terrorists are still lodged in jail enjoying the benefits and they have no remorse for their barbaric act of killing innocent people in the blasts,” he said, requesting the government to execute the death penalty on the terrorists.

Welcoming the court’s verdict, the Anti-Terrorism Forum (ATF) demanded that the State government extend support to those who lost their loved ones or were affected in the blasts. Forum Chairman Dr. Ravinuthala Shashidhar said the punishment given to the terrorists must be executed at the earliest. At the same time, the law enforcement agencies should take stern action against conspirators who were behind the deadly blasts.
