Digital Health Screening For Madrasa Students Launched

The programme is expected to serve as a scalable model for adoption by other educational institutions in the future

HYDERABAD: Towards strengthening preventive healthcare among children studying in madrasas, a comprehensive digital health screening App integrating nutritional assessment, anaemia detection, eye care, dental health and cardiometabolic screening was launched in Hyderabad. The initiative aims to screen 10,000 madrasa students across more than 50 urban settlements over the next six months in the city.

The App was launched by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), in the presence of Mufti Omar Abedeen, deputy director, Al Mahad Ul Aali Al Islami, Hyderabad, and Syed Mazharuddin Hussaini, executive director, SEED‑USA.

Developed by the Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), the digital platform has been designed to facilitate preventive health screening of children between 5 and 17 years of age studying in madrasas across Hyderabad, many of whom have limited access to preventive and curative healthcare services. The programme is expected to serve as a scalable model for adoption by other educational institutions in the future.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said the use of technology for preventive healthcare would help identify health problems at an early stage and enable timely medical intervention before they develop into serious illnesses.

“Leveraging high‑tech health applications and digital screening tools for our students will go a long way in identifying health issues that can be corrected immediately. I appreciate the efforts of the Helping Hand Foundation in developing this initiative,” he said.

Earlier, Saifullah Rahmani also inaugurated the Milli Legal Aid Centre and Mahalla Family Counselling Centre at Abids, an initiative aimed at providing free legal assistance, family counselling and mediation services to economically weaker sections.

The centres, established under the guidance of Mufti Omer Abedeen Qasmi, general secretary of the All India Milli Council (Telangana), will offer legal guidance, counselling and mediation to help resolve family and social disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, with the objective of reducing avoidable litigation.
