Dhaba Owner Arrested for Selling Opium to Truckers

Sandeep Shandilya, DG, EAGLE Force, said they were acting on specific intelligence

Hyderabad: Telangana EAGLE Force, in coordination with Chityal police of Nalgonda district, arrested Gurmeet Singh, owner of Doon Punjabi Dhaba, near Chityal, for selling opium poppy husk to long-distance truck drivers on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. Sandeep Shandilya, DG, EAGLE Force, said they were acting on specific intelligence and seized nine kilograms of opium poppy husk (doda), which falls under the intermediate quantity category under the NDPS Act. During interrogation, he confessed to procuring 20 kg of poppy husk, of which nine kg was seized from the `Dhaba` storeroom following sustained surveillance.

West Zone Task Force Busts Two Gangs; 5 Held, 8 Bikes Recovered

The West zone task force on Saturday busted two gangs involved in vehicle thefts and shutter-lifting cases, arrested five persons and recovered eight stolen two-wheelers in separate operations.

Both arrests were made under the supervision of inspector Ch. Yadender and sub-inspector D. Ravi Raj, said Md Iqbal Siddique additional DCP, task force.

In the one case, the task force arrested Sardar Jagjoth Singh, a rowdy sheeter of SR Nagar police station; Ajmera Murali Kumar of Sanath Nagar, and Sirsuval Tilak of Balkampet for bike thefts and shutter-lifting incidents in the Rachakonda commissionerate and seized four two-wheelers and clothes.

In another operation, the task force arrested Merishetty Nageshwar Rao of Vidyanagar, Nallakunta and a minor for vehicle thefts in the Cyberabad commissionerate and recovered four two-wheelers worth about ₹6.5 lakh. Police said Rao, along with the minor, was addicted to online cricket betting.
