Hyderabad:Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Monday said the welfare of police personnel and their families remained a top priority. During a meeting, he reviewed the welfare schemes including merit scholarships for children for police personnel, financial support and treatment for ill-health as well as accident insurance.
Anand stressed that welfare programmes must not be converted into commercial ventures. Revenue from police canteens and departmental complexes should be channelled into welfare initiatives such as education, scholarships and marriage assistance.
He directed officials to introduce a digital welfare management system to ensure transparency and accountability. Beneficiary details, fund mobilisation and service delivery will be recorded on an integrated online platform. Rental rates for departmental complexes must be fixed transparently, and low-interest loans made available — including 9 per cent for plot loans, 6.75 per cent for housing, personal loans up to ₹5 lakh at 11 per cent, marriage loans up to ₹6 lakh, and education loans up to ₹30 lakh, including overseas education.
Senior officers including DG (I&O) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, ADG Sanjay Jain, IG Shahnawaz Qasim, IG Gajarao Bhupal, secretary Police Welfare Uday Kumar Reddy, finance advisor Sharath Kumar and representatives of the Telangana Police Association attended the meeting.
