DGP Declares Karreguttalu Naxal-Free Area
Addressing the Guthi Koya tribal community, he assured continued government support and distributed an auto-rickshaw, a two-wheeler and essential provisions to seven families to boost livelihoods

Warangal:Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy on Monday declared the once-restive Karreguttalu hills in Mulugu district as Naxal-free and launched a series of development initiatives in Pamunuru village, marking a shift from conflict to growth.
Addressing the Guthi Koya tribal community, he assured continued government support and distributed an auto-rickshaw, a two-wheeler and essential provisions to seven families to boost livelihoods. He also announced plans to develop Karreguttalu into a tourist destination, backed by a police outpost and an inter-agency coordination centre involving Forest, Revenue, CRPF and Police departments.
In Venkatapuram, the DGP led the ‘Arrive Alive’ road safety programme, distributing 200 helmets and inaugurating free eye check-up camps. Nearly 3,000 people attended, and he urged strict adherence to traffic rules.
Earlier, a minor mishap occurred during a convoy trial run near Venkatapuram when one vehicle rear-ended another. No injuries were reported. Senior officials, including PCCF Suvarna, ADG Anil Kumar, SIB IG Sumathi, CRPF IG Vikram, SP Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and ASP Manan Bhatt, were present.
The visit to the Chhattisgarh border region is seen as a strategic push to strengthen control over former Maoist strongholds and accelerate infrastructure development.
