DGP Calls For Stronger SDRF, Better Disaster Response

WARANGAL: Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand on Saturday called for greater preparedness among police personnel to protect people during disasters and emergencies, stressing the need to strengthen the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Visiting the 4th Battalion at Mamunoor in Warangal, Anand said police should be equipped with modern technology, continuous training and professional skills to respond swiftly to floods, inundation, accidents and other emergencies.

Addressing officers and personnel at the battalion auditorium, Anand enquired about their duties, welfare and grievances. He urged them to discharge their responsibilities with discipline and dedication and focus on providing better services to the public.
The DGP inspected an exhibition of SDRF rescue equipment and technical devices arranged by battalion personnel. He reviewed rescue procedures, emergency coordination and the use of equipment and appreciated the skills of the SDRF teams.
Anand cautioned personnel against online betting and gaming, saying such addictions could have serious consequences. Referring to the recent suicide of a constable at the DGP office, he said the constable had reportedly been addicted to online betting and gaming and urged personnel to remain vigilant.
He assured Mamunoor battalion personnel that houses would be constructed through the Police Housing Corporation if government land was made available. Recalling his association with the battalion, Anand said Mamunoor had maintained a distinguished reputation since the days of undivided Andhra Pradesh and recalled serving there as an ASP in 1992.
He said issues relating to promotions, deputations, AR conversions and TAs would be handled transparently and according to government rules. Personnel need not be apprehensive about departmental matters, he said, recalling his earlier service as an SHO at Hasanparthy police station.
Later, Anand planted a sapling on the battalion premises and urged personnel to protect the environment and increase green cover on the campus.
Assistant commandants Balayya, Veeranna and Rajender, RIs Karthik, Vijay, Ravi, Purushotham Reddy, Venkateshwarlu, Raj Kumar and Krishna, besides other police officers and personnel, attended.
