Devotees Mark Janmashtami With Colour, Devotion
Hyderabad celebrated Janmashtami with temple rituals, cultural programmes and home festivities, with devotees dressing children as Krishna and offering prayers.

Small baby footprints drawn on the floor with colourful art made an impression that little Krishna was entering homes, as the city celebrated Janmashtami in grand fashion on Friday.
Parents dressed their children as Lord Krishna, houses were decorated, and prayers held. Temples organised full‑day events, including mangal arati at dawn, Kalasa Abhishek, cultural programmes, sand art and midnight Maha Arati. At ISKCON Abids and Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, devotees thronged the celebrations, while Ramakrishna Math saw bhajans and puja. Sri Sri Radha Gopinath Mandir in Secunderabad hosted programmes from morning till late night.
At Hare Krishna Golden Temple, Banjara Hills, Lord Krishna was presented in different forms — Sri Radha Govinda, Sri Godha Krishna, Sri Laddu Gopal and Sri Makhan Krishna. Devotees performed Unjala‑Jhulan Seva and took blessings. The evening concluded with Sandhya Maha Arati, bhajans, kirtans, dance performances and prasadam distribution. Cultural exhibits showcased Hare Krishna Movement initiatives such as Krishna Kids, Japa Club, Aikya Vidya and Hare Krishna Vani magazine.
Families also celebrated at home. “Janmashtami at home is a joyous and devotional occasion. It brings us together and reminds us of Lord Krishna’s timeless message of love, righteousness and the triumph of good over evil,” said Sandhya Rani, Karthikeya and Sunethri of Mettuguda.
At Shilparamam, Madhapur, the venue turned into Brindavanam with Dhol Tasha drumming, Kolatam by children dressed as Krishnas and Gopikas, and Kuchipudi dance. A procession moved from the main lawn to the Vrindavanam stage, with colourful decorations and enthusiastic participation.
