Devarakonda MLA for Collective Efforts to End Discrimination Against Girls
The MLA also highlighted the changing trends in childbirth, recalling that nearly 90 per cent of deliveries were normal decades ago, in contrast to today’s rising rates of caesarean sections — an outcome of the government’s push for institutional deliveries.

Nalgonda: Devarakonda MLA Nenavath Balu Naik emphasised the importance of ending discrimination against girls and promoting better nutrition for pregnant women during the inauguration of “Poshnana Jathara” on Friday. The event, organised by the Women Welfare and Child Development Department at Devarakonda, aimed to raise awareness among expectant mothers about the benefits of nutritious food for healthy childbirth. Naik noted a gradual attitudinal shift in society, urging that girls be viewed as a blessing and underscoring that nutritious food is provided through state-run Anganwadi centres.
The MLA also highlighted the changing trends in childbirth, recalling that nearly 90 per cent of deliveries were normal decades ago, in contrast to today’s rising rates of caesarean sections — an outcome of the government’s push for institutional deliveries. Additionally, Naik called for strict measures against sex-selection practices, announcing that five new Primary Health Centres will be sanctioned in the Devarakonda Assembly constituency. District collector Ila Tripathi reinforced this stance, warning that stringent action would be taken against anyone involved in unauthorised sex determination tests.
