Devadula Supplies Irrigation Water As Crops Face Dry Spell
Srihari advised farmers against taking up fresh paddy cultivation and urged them to protect standing paddy and dryland crops by using irrigation water judiciously.
Warangal: The Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme has been supplying water to reservoirs to support crops amid a dry spell, former deputy chief minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari said on Thursday.
He said advance measures taken over the past month to store water in reservoirs had enabled authorities to provide irrigation water despite the prevailing dry conditions. With no major releases from other irrigation projects, Devadula had become the main source of water for farmers in the region, he said.
Srihari said five reservoirs — Dharmasagar, Ghanpur, Ashwaravupalli, Gandi Ramaram and Bommakkur — were holding more than 50 per cent of their capacity. Water would be released on an ‘on-off’ basis to ensure supplies reached tail-end ayacut areas.
Water was released from Ashwaravupalli reservoir on Wednesday, while releases from Gandi Ramaram and Bommakkur reservoirs were scheduled for Thursday and Friday respectively.

He also criticised the BRS and BJP for allegedly spreading misinformation against the Congress government. He said the BRS was in power when the Medigadda barrage suffered damage and was now trying to shift the blame for its failures.
