Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Urges Singareni Subsidiary APHMEL to Compete Globally
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that, worldwide, in the sector of engineering companies involved in manufacturing spare parts for new industries and repairing old machinery, few match APHMEL’s machinery and skilled workforce

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has emphasised that APHMEL (Andhra Pradesh Heavy Machinery & Engineering Limited), a Singareni subsidiary, must scale new heights to compete on the global stage. During his visit to the APHMEL plant at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada on Thursday, accompanied by Singareni CMD Balram, he engaged directly with the workforce and spoke to the media about the company’s future.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that, worldwide, in the sector of engineering companies involved in manufacturing spare parts for new industries and repairing old machinery, few match APHMEL’s machinery and skilled workforce. He stressed that the key ingredients for success are commitment, a mindset that believes in global competition, and a proactive approach to utilizing existing systems efficiently. With these in place, the APHMEL can achieve global competitiveness.
He announced an upcoming consultancy appointment to assess local conditions and submit recommendations for the company’s development. Based on this report, the government will chart a clear path forward. He underscored that improved performance by officials and staff will translate into higher profits, generating more employment opportunities for local youth and driving state progress.
Bhatti Vikramarma directed officials to maintain the plant and machinery to the highest standards of cleanliness, conduct regular overhauls, and apply fresh paint. He also insisted on strict adherence to safety protocols by all personnel, emphasising that the industry’s advancement depends on the dedication and ambitions of its workforce.
He further stated that the APHMEL’s operations should expand beyond servicing Singareni Collieries. The company should actively pursue orders across Andhra Pradesh and the entire country, operating on lines similar to BHEL. He acknowledged the APHMEL’s role in manufacturing and repairing machinery for thermal power stations and assured that the state government is exploring strategies for the company’s sustained growth and future development.
