Hyderabad:The SR Nagar police have registered a case against the owner of a building for vandalising a dental clinic, which has been operational for decades, in an attempt to evict it from the premises.
The victim, Dr P.C. Venkata Raman, a dental surgeon, said he had rented the building from its original owner Vinod Kumar. He sold the building to Sardar Haricharan Singh without notifying the dentist about the sale or asking him to vacate the premises.
“In 2023, Singh demanded that we vacate the building immediately. As we have been operating in the building since 1998, it would be difficult for us to vacate immediately, so we filed a suit in court,” Dr Raman said. Even as the case was ongoing, the complainant said, Singh threatened him with dire consequences. “A case was filed against him in December 2024. He may have borne a grudge against me and vandalised my clinic.”
On finding the clinic vandalised, Dr Raman lodged a complaint at the SR Nagar police station. “Our loss on account of the vandalism amounted to `1.5 crore. Several items including dental chairs, cash counter, dental materials, two laptops, clinic furniture, an X-ray machine, tablets, a fridge, a light-curing unit, a scaling machine, an RVG sensor, two television sets, a Wi-Fi box, and a camera DVR box were damaged,” Dr Raman told Deccan Chronicle.
According to sources, the SR Nagar police personnel initially did not register a first information report (FIR). “They did not want us to mention the loss amount of `1.5 crore in his complaint and insisted that he merely list the items lost. The FIR was registered only after we approached senior police officials,” he said.
SR Nagar police and senior officials did not take this reports calls seeking clarifications.
