Decorative LED Lights Get Costly Ahead Of Diwali
Buyers are also opting for newer decorative varieties instead of conventional LED strings.
Hyderabad:Ahead of Diwali, prices of decorative LED lights have increased by 15 to 20 per cent compared to last year, even as traders in Hyderabad's commercial markets report growing demand for newer designs, including flower-shaped, leaf-patterned and water-activated lights.
“The prices of regular LED fairy lights and other decorative varieties have increased by around 15 to 20 per cent compared to last year,” said a trader at Ramdev Agency in Troop Bazar, Koti.
Shops across the city have stocked a range of decorative lighting products, including regular LED strings, battery-operated diyas, water-activated lights and premium decorative varieties.
Traders said flower-shaped lights, leaf-patterned lights and net lights were among the products attracting buyers this season. Customers were enquiring about newer designs for decorating their homes during the festival.
Water-activated LED diyas, which light up when placed in water without requiring oil, are among the new products available in the market. These come in single and multiple-diya designs. A trader said the product was priced at `10, with a box containing 12 pieces. Battery-operated string lights for indoor and outdoor decoration are also available.
Traders reported mixed sales trends, with some indicating slower business and others saying sales were comparable to last year's levels.
“Sales are quite good so far. Customers are asking for different and newer varieties of lights that are attractive and visually appealing,” said Laxman, a shopkeeper on RP Road, Secunderabad.
Buyers are also opting for newer decorative varieties instead of conventional LED strings.
“I have opted for flower and leaf lights this year instead of the conventional varieties I buy every year. Having recently moved into a new house, I wanted something different, and these newer designs looked attractive and trendy,” said Praveen, a customer from Abids.
Traders said decorative lights were available in different designs and price ranges to suit customer preferences and budgets.
