Decomposed Bodies of Two Sisters Found in Secunderabad Flat
Police suspect suicide; post-mortem report awaited for confirmation

Hyderabad: The Karkhana police recovered the highly decomposed bodies of two sisters under suspicious circumstances from an apartment in Secunderabad. According to Karkhana sub-inspector K. Naresh, investigating officer in the case, the deceased were identified as Veena, 60, and Meena, 59, residents of Srinidhi Apartments. They were suspected to have died on April 3.
The incident came to light on Tuesday after Balvuri Sadhana, 58, a schoolteacher and younger sister of the victims, received a phone call from their neighbours complaining of a foul smell from the apartment.
In her complaint, Sadhana stated that her parents had seven daughters and a son. Two of her sisters had passed away, while three others were married and living separately. Veena and Meena had been residing together in the apartment for 25 years. Sadhana stated that both sisters were unemployed, reportedly mentally ill and undergoing treatment, Naresh said.
The sisters had been in regular touch with Sadhana over the phone, and last contacted her on April 3. Sadhana became suspicious when she did not hear from them for ten days.
On April 13, at around 2.15 pm, she received a phone call from the Karkhana police informing her that neighbours had reported a foul smell from the flat. Sadhana rushed to the apartment and found the main door latched from inside.
Despite repeated ringing of the doorbell, there was no response. With Sadhana present, the police arranged for a key maker to open the door. Upon entering the apartment, they found both sisters lying on the bed in the hall, police said.
Police suspect that the sisters may have died by suicide. A case of death under suspicious circumstances has been registered under Section 194 of the BNSS. Police were awaiting the post-mortem report to establish the cause of death while proceeding with their investigations.
