Death Toll Of Odisha Workers In Telangana Factory Blast Rises To 9
The latest victim of the factory blast was identified as Purna Chandra Sahu, a native of Sukarpada in Cuttack district

Bhubaneswar: The death toll of workers from Odisha in the Telangana chemical factory explosion rose to nine, with one more victim identified through DNA analysis, an official said on Saturday.
The latest victim, identified as Purna Chandra Sahu of Sukarpada village in Cuttack district, was confirmed through forensic procedures, informed Pritish Panda, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Directorate of Odisha Parivaar.
With this, the number of Odia workers killed in the powerful blast at a pharmaceutical plant in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy district of Telangana on June 30 has climbed to nine. According to Panda, among the deceased, three hailed from Ganjam district, two each from Cuttack and Nabarangpur, and one each from Balasore and Jajpur districts.
“All the bodies have been handed over to their respective families,” Panda added.
He further informed that four persons from Odisha were injured in the incident. While two have been discharged after treatment, the remaining two continue to receive medical care. Among them, Samir Padhi from Ganjam district, who had sustained 35 per cent burn injuries and was undergoing treatment in the ICU, is now recovering steadily and has been moved out of intensive care.
In total, 14 workers from Odisha were affected by the tragic explosion.
On Friday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh each for the families of the Odia workers who lost their lives in the mishap. The assistance will be disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), according to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
